To all my buddies at home, please please please come visit us so Brian and I can take you to Milo's! We just love it. The food is consistently wonderful. And they have a million beers and wines. They're very vegetarian-friendly too. They are located in Boulder City, which is closer to our condo than the Strip!
We decided to try something new: their Cheese and Crackers plate with roasted red peppers. This cheese was great. So yummy. And, Brian got the Purple Haze beer.
And for lunch, I got the Athenian- a melted Brie, avocado, and sprouts sandwich. There's also potato salad, 2 pickles, and a handful of grapes. Awesome. I just love it. I also tried Brian's sandwich, some kind of turkey thing with pepperoni on it. The bread was just great.
Brian and I tried to go to the movies, but I had the time wrong and we were 15 minutes late. We decided to stop for some ice cream before we went to Binion's to play poker with Nick. I got Rocky Road in a waffle cone.
This was an interesting experience. Let me start by explaining that Vegas was sort of out of control this weekend. We're normally overrun with tourists anyways, but this weekend was: a three day weekend, Chinese New Year, the NBA All-Star game was here, AND the 20th is Mardi Gras. So, I suspect we were more crowded than usual. So, I think that's the reason that the ice cream stand inside the Sam's Town Casino was almost out of all of their flavors. Everyone who tried to order off the list, instead of looking in the case was surprised that they were out. This caused a huge hold up at the ice cream stand. One woman was out and out rude about the situation in front of her young granddaughter. And another couple seemed so confused, ("You don't have Butter Pecan? Then what's this? Coffee? Coffee? What?") that Brian speculated they'd never had ice cream before in their lives. Getting this ice cream cone took about a half hour, maybe longer.
Then, we went to Binion's for poker. Yay. We ended up at a table with three young guys from Iowa. They said they were in town for a DJ Convention. Their names were Jeff, George, and Cornelius. Yes, Cornelius. It's funny to meet someone named Cornelius anyways, let alone a 20 something DJ from Iowa. One of the guys is a lawyer, and we had a little battle of the LSAT scores at the table. (I beat him by a few points.) At least he gave me props for passing the NY Bar- a really hard Bar, he said. The lawyer told me that he had gotten a scholarship to Cardozo for law school. His friend, Jeff, cracked me up when he said he did so well on the LSAT's that he got a scholarship to go to University of Phoenix on-line for his degree.
I'm still not clear on how one lawyer, one would-be lawyer, and a guy named Cornelius were doing in town for a DJ Convention.
Brian and I picked up Taco Bell for dinner: burrito supreme, no beef, and cheese nachos.
