April 13, 2007 - Best Cream Puff EVER

It's Friday, but I have the day off since I worked last Saturday at the Bunny Boogie.

First, I take a major step for me. I turned in my New York license for a Nevada one. Yikes. So, it's official. I live here now. It was very strange for me to have to turn in my New York license. It actually depressed me a little bit.

I don't think it's a good idea to scan my license or post a picture of it, or else, I would, so you can see it. It's blue and shiny. And it says, "Organ Donor", in huge letters. And, believe it or not, getting it took less than 20 minutes, amazingly efficient for the DMV. They print it right there- while you wait. Also, they wouldn't let me put my maiden name on it, although it is my middle name officially. Isn't that odd?

Then, Brian and I go to the Buffet at Bally's. Bally's is connected to the Paris Hotel, and they take advantage of that connection in their buffet offerings. I'm in food heaven. Salad plate, as per usual. But, with tots. Brian is in the process of stealing one off my plate in this shot. You can see his fork tines in the top of the picture.

Then, bagel, lox, crepes, fruit and yogurt and brie cheese.

Oh, and dessert. Brian picked out a few things he wanted to try, and I got this cream puff that is the size of a cheeseburger. We share everything. The cream puff is probably the best one I've ever had. But, I couldn't eat it all! There's also a peanut butter brownie, a hazelnut chocolate cake (tastes like Rocher), éclair, dark chocolate raspberry mousse, and a cannoli, all of which were tasted, none of which were finished.

After that, I went with Brian over to the Paris Hotel to meet some French-Canadians. No, really. Rob and his new fiance, Mel, are from Montreal, and they came to meet Brian and his "This Ain't Iowa" cohost, Tommy. We met up at the casino bar. I drank an Amaretto sour. I ate this cherry, so here's the picture.

Rob and Mel are probably 2 of the coolest people I've met through Brian's show. No offense to anyone else I've met through Brian's show who might be reading this. (e.g. Steve or Christopher- who are awesome in their own kick-ass poker way.) For the most part, you're all awesome. But, I don't meet many women through Brian's show, or non-poker players. Mel and Rob were really smart, politically-minded, and funny. Rob had brought Mel to Vegas to propose! I'm such a sappy romantic. They told us all about living in Canada- the pros and cons- the taxes on top of taxes, their electoral process, their television shows. This week, I sure got some lessons on life in other English-speaking countries!

The kitschy/annoying thing about the Paris, is that they insist on printing the majority of their signs in English and French, for no reason. Even their warning signs in the parking garage.

Dinner. I'm really not hungry. I reheat leftover mac and cheese and throw in some spinach for good measure.

And, the peeps. There are still 3 left. They are getting stale, and I like them that way.

April 12, 2007 - Sandwiches Galore!

Starbucks. I don't have a problem. You go to a meeting.

Lunch: Speaking of meetings, a work meeting. Box lunch from Jason's Deli. Turkey sandwich, pickle, chips, cookie.

Dinner: Tuna sandwich, with spinach, and organic macaroni and cheese.

Dessert: A damn tasty Snickers Brownie Ice Cream sandwich.

April 11, 2007 - The Peeps Must Die.

Breakfast: Ooh! Balance Bar.

Lunchables! Awesome. And yogurt.

My coworker brought in this beef stew for everyone. To be polite, I taste a half spoonful. It's good, like a beef pot pie might be, really, but I don't do beef.

Dinner: Nachos.

Dessert: This adorable Peep. For some true Peep-eating magic, click here.

April 10, 2007 - Back to the Sushi Factory

Breakfast: Granola bites and some dried apricots.

Lunch: Hummus, pita, yogurt, soup.

Snack: One of these cookies. The other is still in my desk and should probably be thrown out.

Dinner: I go crazy at the Sushi Factory. Brian shared everything with me. I love it!

April 9, 2007 - Australia Day

Breakfast, ahem.

Lunch: Sandwich, yogurt.

For dinner, Happy Hour at 777 at the Main Street Station.

Brian, from time to time, because of his podcasts, has fans come in a visit him. This time, two guys all the way from Australia came to Vegas for "holiday" and wanted to meet up with Brian. I learned that in Australia, they call soccer, "soccer," like Americans do, and not "football" like England and most of the rest of the world. That's because they have their own "football," like America does. I didn't know that. So, they
educated me on "footy," which is Australian rule Football, and it's not really like American football either. Go figure.

It's also funny to meet someone from Australia, and for no particular reason, they are an Oakland A's fan. They also told me that America ripped off Australia's Dancing with the Stars. He actually seemed a little hurt by that.

April 8, 2007 - Easter Sunday

Brian worked today, and despite me making nice with the Bunny yesterday, he didn't visit my house. This feels less like Easter, and more like just a regular Sunday.

Breakfast: Toast with peanut butter.

For lunch, I had soup and crackers, which I ate while talking on the phone with Alyssa.

Oh, well, it's Easter, so you have to eat candy.

For dinner, Brian made me this gorgeous tomato sauce and we had spaghetti and salad. And Parmesan cheese.

And a donut.

April 7, 2007 - What's Fair is Fair Fare

It's arrived! The long-awaited Bunny Boogie Egg Hunt and Family Fair, sponsored by my non-profit, to benefit Prevent Child Abuse Nevada!

My entire agency teamed up to bring the community a wonderful event!

I spent the majority of my day as a floater- assisting vendors and giving our staff breaks throughout the day. The highlight- I met the Easter Bunny, Chicken Little, and an interesting Easter Egg. (Since when did an Easter Egg become a character you could meet and speak with? Are kids interested in meeting eggs?)

Now for the food.

You better believe I needed coffee. Starbucks, God love 'em, had free samples of peanut butter chocolate toffee candy. Yes, the perfect breakfast for people that have to work at an event with about 2,000 children in attendance and an Easter Egg hunt with 25,000 eggs!

A couple of energy bars in the morning and afternoon.

I tried some of the food from the vendors. A Chinese restaurant was advertising cream cheese wantons, but they really had veggie egg rolls. Karla ate one for me.

Before the event wrapped up, Krispy Kreme gave me a free dozen donuts. Fresh donuts. Now, when someone hands you a dozen Krispy Kreme donuts, for free, you just take them. And eat them. (Well, one of them at least. You also deperately find people to share them with.)

Later, after Brian finished with his work (one of these years I'm going to rope him into volunteering for me!), we went out to dinner at Chili's. We ordered an appetizer sampler and shrimp and chicken fajitas and just shared everything. Our friend Nick met up with us, so we decided to get some dessert and share that too. It's a magic bar sundae!

April 6, 2007 - Peanuty Friday

Breakfast: Peanut butter Balance Bar

Snack: Peanut butter granola bites.

I was really busy today getting ready for tomorrow's carnival-- putting together games, gathering prizes together, and making cute signs and bunny-shaped donation containers.
For lunch, I went to Taco Bell with some coworkers. I got the usual garbage.

Pizza for an early dinner- I'm starving.

Later on, candy and toast with peanut butter as a late night snack.
