I found out I was pregnant on June 8, 2007. Suddenly, this project took on a whole new meaning.

May 24, 2007 - "I have a Bachelor's Degree in Raspberry Ice Tea"
Oh, did I mention Dunkin Donuts was right on the corner?
Lunch - ummm... sorry. A huge mess up on my part. After spending the morning helping Ken and Martin prepare for the Race party (more on that later), Martin took us to a local taco place. We got home and completely devoured these yummy little tacos, and I didn't think twice about my camera. Here is the aftermath. What I did eat was 3 vegetarian tacos and a pile of tortilla chips. Dinner - now, this was quite an experience. Ken, Brian and I went to Little Italy to meet up with Mike and Elana. First we enjoyed some calamari at one of the sidewalk cafes. It was the Feast of St. Anthony, the Patron Saint of Lost Things. There was a parade and a street festival going on. Here are some of those pictures.
We decided to eat at La Mela, which is a family style restaurant. They serve you huge plates of appetizers and pasta. You *could* order of the menu, but why bother? Here's all the yummy starters- fried mozzarella, peppers, asparagus, stuffed mushrooms, fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, and bread. And pasta! Rigatoni with marinara, gnocchi, and tortellini.
During the early part of the meal, we saw this guy doing some sort of scavenger hunt/'How to Host a Murder' performance with several groups of young people. At first, we had no idea what was going on. We got seated across from this character, and heard him spewing such odd stories in a very strange Eastern European accent. It made us think of a prank, like Borat. But I first thought it was just a loud guy at a party. One of his key phrases: "Did you know albino midgets are very prone to scurvy? It's true- Snapple Fact #243." Followed up with the subject of this post. I was laughing at him so much, but the other people at dinner were pretty much disgusted. After the second group of people came in, we sort of got the gist of what was going on.
Dessert became an obsession. On the plane ride over, I saw a show on the Food Network that featured a place called Zozo's. They have homemade gelato in all sorts of crazy yummy flavors. The show featured this Mint Brownie kind that looked amazing. So, we had to go. The mint brownie was pretty awesome - the brownie was so dense and chewy. But, they also had Fluffernutter kind and this was phenomenal. It was so light, which was unexpected, but the flavors were so rich. Go ahead, order some. Wonderful. Well worth the walk from Little Italy. (We took a cab back to Brooklyn.)
In 2004, Tucker Shaw photographed everything he ate, from main courses to free samples.
Out of sheer curiosity, I am attempting to do the same thing... I'll be taking pictures of everything I eat in 2007 and I'll post them here. I'll include other details about the food, such as who made it, when and where I ate it, and who was with me.
You might wonder, but no, I'm not a vegetarian. However, other than white meat chicken or turkey, and fish, you're not likely to see any pictures of meat.
I don't make any promises about any of this being interesting.
I'm married and living in Henderson (a suburb of Las Vegas) with my comedian/TV personality husband, Brian, our energetic son, Nate, and my lovable and troublesome Jack Russell Terrier, Chopper. I'm officially retired from the practice of law, and now I work for Community Counseling Center. I love long car trips. I've lived in north Jersey, Queens, Tucson, and Las Vegas. I sometimes daydream about winning the Pillsbury Bake-Off or maybe the World Series of Poker. Nothing makes me happier than spending time with friends and family.
